Volunteer Charter

Investment is a profession, not just a
business. It involves clear fiduciary responsibilities and a duty of care to
clients which is not true of the generality of business relationships. As for
any other profession, a recognised professional body is a fundamental
requirement for maintaining standards. The the CFA Society of the UK is that body.
CFA UK is a volunteer-led organisation, and
relies on its members to contribute their time to support its operations and
strategic direction. A strong volunteer effort is a key factor in the society's
progress.
CFA Institute prizes
the volunteer-led nature of its society network. Notes CFA Institute president
and chief executive, Jeff Diermeier: “Serving this organization and our profession as a
volunteer can be wonderfully rewarding. By giving back to your profession, you
can provide a legacy for years to come. Not only do your efforts help critically
in terms of today’s capital markets by helping to create more efficient markets
with integrity, but also you’re building a legacy for those who are going to
come after us.”
