Careers event working group - straight off the blocks with a winning event

The CFA Career Opportunities working group was established in the summer of 2018 to continue to provide CFA UK members with career oriented events where they can have the opportunity to meet experienced industry professionals and hear their experiences and advice for developing a successful and long-lasting career in a specialist field of investments. We are also passionate about providing topical information about the most relevant themes we identify in the current market and aim to design our program to equip our members with relevant knowledge.

We are working on a full schedule of events for the Society’s members to be delivered in both live and online format. We also aim to engage further with the speakers to share their professional tips and publish relevant materials on the Society’s webpage and social media.

So far this year we are please to offer you events on the following subjects:

Working in Private Markets

4 October 2018

During this event we had the pleasure of hearing from David Porter, Managing Partner at Apposite Capital, a specialist healthcare private equity firm and Fred Nada, a Partner of the Private Debt Group at BlueBay Asset Management. They shared their perspectives on developing a successful career in private markets while comparing the skills and experiences necessary to succeed in private equity or private debt. David Porter has also kindly shared his top tips for success.

Working in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

12 November 2018

We are pleased to have secured Giles Spungin and Mark Ainsworth to share their respective perspectives on the development of machine learning within the banking and asset management sectors, respectively. We will aim to gather a better understanding of how financial institutions leverage information and technology with an objective to identify the successful traits and skills necessary to succeed in this new and emerging field.

To secure your place or find out more about the event, see our our events list.

We look forward to expanding our program in 2019.
