It's all GO with ESG: Volunteers lead on ESG events, webinar and content

ESG is a major focus for CFA UK with staff and volunteers working hard to deliver on this priority for the investment industry. 18 volunteers have been working hard to bring this topic, in its many shapes and forms, to the membership.

ESG in Investment certificate

The ESG Panel, chaired by long-term volunteer, Sylvia Solomon, and made up of some of our industry’s leading practitioners of ESG, are preparing for the pilot launch of CFA UK’s first ESG qualification. The syllabus for this new qualification was originally agreed in 2018 by a very engaged ESG working group. The panel’s remit is to take the excellent work done and move this into qualification delivery, focusing on learning materials and assessment production and launch.  It is anticipated that a pilot will run at the end of June and formal launch of the qualification will take place in May 2019.

If you think your firm would be interested in getting involved with the pilot testing, contact Director of Education, Christina Curtin

ESG events, webinars and content

The ESG Events working group (Justin Kew, CFA, Clarissa Hauptman, CFA, and Oliver MacArthur, CFA) has scheduled a diverse programme of content starting on 4 February with Colin Mayer talking about the role of governance in asset management. This is followed in March by a Wednesday Webinar at One on the financial impact from climate change on forest, food and land sectors. And there’s lots more scheduled in the events calendar.

The Career Opportunities working group (Elena Koycheva, CFA, Hish Ravindra, CFA, Yana Stunis, CFA, and Olga Hibezh) has got an exciting careers event coming up on 26 February, Working in ESG.

Member of the ESG certificate panel, Oliver MacArthur, IMC, wrote an insightful piece for Professional Investor online about the impact of EPA cuts.
