ESG regulations: Navigating the regulatory uncertainties for climate product development

This is an in-person networking and knowledge sharing opportunity organised by the Sustainability Community Champions.

The current ESG regulation landscape is rapidly evolving. An expert panel will discuss how these regulations can and should impact on the product development and marketing of new climate investments.

This is the launch event of CFA UK’s Sustainability Community, a newly formed network of professionals collaborating, learning and growing together. The Sustainability Community Champions will be on hand to welcome you, get you discussing and debating, and forming valuable new connections. We hope you will go on to join the community once it is fully launched online!

The panel will set the tone for the evening and will cover:

  • What to note in new regulations
  • Implications and opportunities arising from the new regulations
  • The panel’s practical experience on how to assess and support investments that are navigating these changes

Speakers

Claire Wilkinson, Director and General Counsel, Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Compliance Officer, Payden & Rygel Global Limited

Claire Wilkinson is a Director and General Counsel, Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Compliance Officer of Payden & Rygel Global Limited. Claire qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales at Slaughter and May in London where she practised for 12 years from 1990 to 2002 specialising in corporate finance, public and private M&A and equity capital markets work. 

Claire has 11 years’ experience in general counsel positions in the private equity sector and, prior to joining the Investment Manager in 2020, spent a further seven years as compliance officer and money laundering reporting officer at Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co. LLC.

She has served on the Professional Standards Committee of Invest Europe, chairing its responsible investment roundtable, served on the Responsible Investment Board of the British Venture Capital Association and as a member of the lnvestment Association’s Financial Crime Committee. Clairehas a BA degree in modern languages from the University of Durham and a Post-Graduate Diploma in risk, governance and compliance from the University of Manchester.

Béatrice Méthé, Legal Counsel and ESG Committee Member, Hayfin Capital Management LLP 

Béatrice Méthé is a legal counsel and member of the ESG Committee at Hayfin Capital Management LLP where she works on the development and the implementation of ESG strategy across all managed assets. She also ensures Hayfin’s compliance with global ESG regulations and standards.

With more than 10 years of experience, Béatrice developed a particular expertise at the intersection of ESG, law and finance in the asset management context. Prior to Hayfin, Béatrice worked for a leading Canadian business law firm and she started her career in investment banking.

She holds an MBA from IE Business School (Spain), an LLB from Université de Montréal (Canada) and is a member of the Québec Bar. She also completed the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.

Mohamed Hoteit. ESG Product Manager, Adenza

Mohamed is the ESG Product Manager, responsible for delivering ESG solutions at Adenza. Mohamed and his team design ESG products that help financial institutions to comply with ESG regulations, including the EU Taxonomy, SFDR and Pillar 3 ESG disclosures.

Prior to this role, Mohamed was managing the regulatory analysis team responsible for the development of the global shareholding disclosures solutions that have been adopted by reputable asset managers and investment firms in the American, European and APAC regions in order to meet their reporting obligations in the areas of large shareholdings, short selling, takeover panel as well as other country specific regulations such as the 13F in the US.

Finian Power, Head of ESG Policy and Regulation, First Sentier Investors

Based in Dublin, Finian is responsible for developing the firm’s understanding of current and emerging ESG/sustainability policy and regulatory issues globally. Finian also supports policy analysis and advocacy across the organisation.

Prior to joining First Sentier Investors, Finian was Head of Investment Management Oversight at Prescient Fund Services and has previously held roles at Waystone as a Director in Dublin their Dublin and Cayman Islands offices, BNY Mellon and JPMorgan in Dublin.

Finian studies business at Dublin Institute of Technology, is a Charted Alternative Investment Analyst and holds certificates in ESG Investing, and Climate and Investing from CFA Institute and CFA UK respectively.
