Investment and risk characteristics of green bonds

Thursday 09 November 2023 | 17:00 - 18:00 | Webinar

This event has been organised by CFA UK’s Performance and Risk Special Interest Group

The sustainable finance market has experienced significant growth over the last few years along with advances in the green funds industry, strong support by regulators, and new green certification systems.

The market has exceeded $4T USD in terms of total issuance since the introduction of sustainable bonds with more than 60% of the market corresponding to green bonds. Significant sovereign deals are expected to lead to more than $500B USD of green bond proceedings in 2023. Continuous innovation in the green finance market has exposed investors to significant challenges in understanding the investment properties of green bonds.

Dr Apostolos Kourtis will talk you through his research on the fast-growing green finance market and you will:

  • gain insight into current trends in the green bond markets.
  • learn about the investment features of green bonds and how these differ to conventional bonds.
  • build an understanding of the risk characteristics of green bonds.
