This event has been jointly organised by CFA UK's Black Professionals Network and BlackRock’s Black Professionals Network. 

You are invited to an evening with Sir Steve McQueen CBE, Director of acclaimed movies 12 Years A SlaveShame, Hunger; and the TV series Small Axe.

As the first black film maker to win an Oscar for best picture, the conversation moderated by Caroline Vincent from CFA UK’s Black Professionals Network will delve into Sir Steve’s accomplishments, the messages in his work, his background and upbringing and his thoughts on encouraging black people to succeed in environments when they are one of few.

Sir Steve McQueen CBE

Sir Steve McQueen CBE is a British film director, film producer, screenwriter, and video artist. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2011 for services to the visual arts. In 2014, he was included in Time magazine's annual Time 100 list of the "most influential people in the world". He has received an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards and the BFI Fellowship in 2016.
