EDUCATION SYSTEM GO LIVE FAQS

Find answers to common questions about the Education System go-live, including key dates, support, and what to expect during the transition.

Why is CFA UK closing the Candidate Area?

Over the last two years, CFA UK has been going through a major digital transformation process to improve services for our members and candidates. The next phase of the project is to move the CFA UK Candidate Area into the main CFA UK portal. Bringing together both sites will create a one stop shop with a single sign in for all our candidates and members, allowing you to register for a qualification, schedule exams via Pearson, purchase membership, book onto events and manage your personal details.

What should I do now?

Keep an eye out for communication from us. If we have any actions we need you to complete, we will reach out directly via email with clear guidance on what you need to do. An official launch email will also be sent to all CFA UK customers when the transition is completed. If you do not hold a current portal account, please do not create a portal account until after we have communicated that the transition is complete.

What services will be available during the transition period?

Why can’t I purchase anything in the Candidate Area?

To enable the transition of Candidate accounts to our CFA UK portal, from 17th August, you will not be able to register for an exam or purchase any learning materials until that transition is complete. We expect this to be  live during week of 24th-28th August.

What happens if I need to purchase an exam or learning materials after 17 August?

You will not be able to purchase exams or learning materials from 17 August until the new CFA UK Portal goes live.

Will I still be able to access my learning materials after 17 August?

Yes. From 17 August, the Candidate Area will become read-only, but you will still be able to access any online learning materials you have already purchased.

Access to your existing learning materials will continue throughout the transition period with the exception of Monday 24th August when all systems will be unavailable. We will contact you once the portal is live.

Will I still be able to take my exam after the 17th August?

Yes, you will still be able to take your exam during the transition phase from 17th August to Sunday 23rd August (both in Test Centres and via OnVue) and you will still be able to schedule, re-schedule and cancel exam appointments during that period.

From Tuesday 25th August, candidates will be able to test in test centres only. All other services will become available when the new system goes live during the week of 24th-28th September.

What if I have an exam scheduled on 24-26 August?

Pearson have cancelled all OnVue exams on 25th and 26th August. Candidates with exam appointments in test centres will be able to test as scheduled.

What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my exam appointment during the transition period?

You will be unable to schedule / reschedule / cancel exam appointments. Normal services will resume when the new Portal launches during the week of 24-28th August. As usual, you must reschedule or cancel an appointment 72 hours before your scheduled appointment.

My CFA UK Candidate name does not match my Candidate ID and I can’t change it. Will I still be able to take my exam?

During the transition phase from 17th August until go live, you will not be able to update your personal details. If your name does not match your ID, which would result in you being turned away from your exam, please notify us (at Examsupport@cfauk.org) at least 2 working days in advance of your exam so that we can authorise Pearson to allow you to test. You will need to provide us with your booking reference, candidate number, and a photo of the ID you will be presenting on the day of your exam.

Do I need to create a new account?

Not at this time. Your candidate account will be migrated to the CFA UK Portal.  Once the transition is complete, we will be back in touch with next steps.

Will my username and password from the Candidate Area work in the new Portal?

No. We will be back in touch once the transition is complete with next steps.

Will my exam history and qualification records be transferred to the new Portal?

Yes. Your existing candidate records, including qualification and exam information held by CFA UK, will be available through the new CFA UK Portal once your account has been linked successfully. In this first phase, this will be dated back to examinations / qualifications gained from 1 February 2018 onwards only.

Will there be any changes to how I schedule exams with Pearson?

The process for taking your exam with Pearson remains the same. However, access to Pearson scheduling will be through single sign-on via the CFA UK Portal. You should log into the Portal and click on the Pearson button. This will take you directly to Pearson services available to you without having to log in again.

Why can’t I log into the Candidate Area?

To enable the transition of Candidate accounts to our CFA UK Portal, the Candidate Area will be closed down on Tuesday 25 August. Should you wish to view your Candidate account thereafter, you should log into CFA UK’s Portal once the new system has gone live.  We let you know when the new system has gone live and when you can log into the portal.
