CFA UK's Black Professionals working group would like to invite you to their third virtual networking event on 28 October called "Black History Month - Pioneers and Pathways". We will highlight black pioneers and the paths they have paved for us, as well as discuss how we can stand on their shoulders, creating paths for those who come behind us. We will hear from Leanne Mair and Gillian Elcock, two industry professionals who will share their career journeys and give you their tips for success. There will also be a networking opportunity for you to ask questions, share insights and make connections. Please share this invite with other professionals you feel may be interested.

Leanne Mair, Managing Director of Benefactum Consulting
After over a decade of experience as an asset management professional with PIMCO and BlueBay Asset Management and oversight of projects with over USD 200 billion in AUM, Leanne forged a new career and consultancy focused on designing and implementing strategies to improve the workplace.
Leveraging her background and personal experience, Leanne founded Benefactum Consulting to help companies identify and navigate key challenges and create meaningful impact with their gender equality initiatives, ensuring that all women win. She brings to the table broad international experience helping organisations create environments where female employees, especially Black female employees, feel valued and seen, allowing them and their companies to thrive.
Leanne works to achieve transformative strategies that contribute to a more inclusive, gender-equal world. A commitment to equity combined with thoughtful planning and powered by action are key to innovation and progress toward that goal.
Leanne also serves as a Board Advisor to XOCO Unlimited, a non-profit organisation that partners with grassroots organizations and world-class companies to empower marginalized young women, helping them escape exploitation through education and global initiatives that promote system-level change.
Gillian Elcock, CEO and Co-Founder, Denny Ellison Investment Management
Gillian is the CEO and Co-founder of Denny Ellison Investment Management (DEIM). Before starting DEIM, she founded and led Denny Ellison Enterprises Ltd, an independent research and analyst training company.
Before Denny Ellison, Gillian worked as an equity research analyst for several years at Putnam Investments and Insight Investment. She started her career as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.
Gillian sits on the Board of the CFA UK. She is also Chair of the CFA UK’s Networks Steering Committee. Previous roles include Vice Chair of the CFA UK’s Content and Networks Steering Committee, Chair of the SIG Council, Co-chair of the Research Analysts Special Interest Group, member of the Careers Committee and member of the Membership Committee. She was awarded the CFA UK Volunteer of the Year Award in 2017.
Gillian holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and MEng and BSc degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also an award-winning author.She was named a finalist in the Investment Analyst of the Year category of the Women in Investment Awards in 2018.
