Stewardship has never been more consequential. Against a backdrop of renewed focus on UK competitiveness, long-term capital allocation, and the role of institutional investors in sustaining market trust, the revised Stewardship Code sets a higher bar; but questions remain about whether practice is keeping pace with principle.

This panel brings together perspectives from across the investment chain to examine what is genuinely shifting in stewardship behaviour, and what is not.

Drawing on the experiences of asset managers and asset owners the session moves beyond reporting compliance to interrogate where the model is working, where it continues to break down, and what more effective stewardship would look like in practice.

With the Code now embedded, the conversation turns to outcomes: what evidence exists that stewardship is delivering, and what still needs to change?

Learning Outcomes

  • Distinguish between reporting progress and behavioural change
  • Identify the structural and systemic factors that continue to constrain effective stewardship
  • Articulate what better stewardship would look like in practice
