Wednesday webinar at one: Decomposing alpha - How it provides deeper insights into a Fund Manager’s skills

Wednesday 30 September 2026 | 13:00 - 14:00 | Webinar

Alpha is often viewed as the clearest measure of a fund manager’s skill. However, Alpha is rarely consistent over time, raising important questions about what drives its changes and whether headline Alpha alone tells the full story.

Join Steven Goldin, Managing Partner at Parala Capital LLP, and Dr. James Chu, CFA, Head of Investment Solutions at Tricio Investment Advisors Ltd., as they explore how decomposing Alpha can provide a more nuanced understanding of investment performance and manager skill.

Drawing on practical examples and research, the speakers will demonstrate how breaking Alpha into its underlying components can reveal valuable insights that may be overlooked by traditional performance analysis. They will also discuss how these techniques can be used by fund selectors, investment researchers, and portfolio managers to make more informed decisions.
