CFA UK announces new appointees to board of directors as Lindsey Matthews becomes chair

London United Kingdom, 24 November: CFA Society of the UK (“CFA UK”) is pleased to announce the election of Lindsey Matthews, CFA as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. Mr. Matthews is currently Chief Risk Officer at the Universities Superannuation Scheme (“USS”) and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2017.

Commenting on his appointment, Lindsey Matthews, said: “CFA UK’s Board plays an essential role in ensuring that, as an organisation, we are constantly striving to deliver the best outcomes for our members and society as a whole. It’s a privilege to be appointed as Chair and I’m relishing the opportunity to work with my colleagues - both old and new - to continue delivering CFA UK’s mission to promote, support and develop the future of the investment management profession.”

Alongside Mr Matthews’ election as chair, Sylvia Solomon, ASIP and Philippe Lenoble, CFA have been appointed to the CFA UK Board.

New CFA UK Board profiles:

Sylvia Solomon, ASIP

Sylvia Solomon is Director of ESG and Business Development at Equitile Investments Ltd where she sits on the Investment Committee and is Chair of the Governance Committee. Sylvia has over 30 years of investment industry experience on the buy-side, in sustainable investing and managing both Long-only and hedge fund equity portfolios.

She is an active member of CFA UK and has volunteered on several committees and task oriented working groups.   Currently, Sylvia is Chair of the Examinations and Education Committee and serves on the Sustainability Working Group, the Certificate in Climate and Investing panel and the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing (ESG) panel - instrumental in leading practitioners in the design, development and launch of the Certificate in ESG Investing. Her past commitments include the Membership Committee, as Vice Chair, the Volunteer Steering Committee, and the IMC panel.

Sylvia is a member of the PRI Global Policy Reference Group, which aims to inform and strengthen PRI’s and its signatories’ public policy engagement on responsible investment topics. She is also a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association’s (AIMA) Global Responsible Investment Committee (GRIC). GRIC guides AIMA’s responsible investment work in regulatory engagement, sound practice, and analysis.

Philippe Lenoble, CFA

Philippe has been a CFA Charterholder since 2004. As Senior Investment Director at AustralianSuper, he is responsible for building the infrastructure investment team in Europe. 

Prior experience has been in Managing Director roles within infrastructure groups from CDPQ, to Goldman Sachs, as well as holding a Vice President role with Citigroup European Structured Finance team. As part of his infrastructure investing roles, he sat on the Board or equivalent corporate bodies of various renewable developers, airports, ports and toll roads. 

Philippe has a Master’s degree in engineering and management from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). He has served as a member of the Society’s Examinations and Education Committee for eight years and has been active in other areas of work of the Society.

Nominees for consideration by CFA UK’s members at the society’s AGM are selected by the Society’s Nominating Committee. The committee considers the diversity of skills and experience that the Board requires and seeks to represent the diversity of the society’s membership.
