Who is the programme for?

Investment industry professionals who are CFA UK members (CFA, IMC, ASIP, FSIP, Affiliates). The programme is not eligible for candidates. We encourage your application if you are based outside of London and will endeavour to match you with a mentor/mentee from a similar location who can do face-to-face meetings. However, we do expect that the chance of not finding a match is increased for those outside of London.

What are the timings for the programme?

  • One-to-one Mentoring cycle runs from April to December
  • Application deadline: 8 February 2020
  • Launch: 31 March 2020
  • Closing: Early November 2020

What level of time commitment is required?

It is usual to spend up to an hour meeting between mentor and mentee. Together with preparation and follow-up, the time commitment is approximately three hours per month. However, mentors and mentees can spend more time if agreed between the parties. One meeting per month is recommended, with the initial meeting face-to-face. Training will be provided during the launch on how to be an effective mentor or mentee and how to get the most out of the programme. If requested, additional support will be provided during the mentoring cycle.

How will mentors and mentees be matched?

Participants will be matched based on being best suited in terms of ability to achieve stated goals and their stated criteria. Applicants who clearly defined their objectives and goals will be given priority and consideration will also be given to professional experience, exposure and the stage in an applicant's career. Where there are more candidates than a suitable match, the next best option will be offered. All applicants will be informed end of March 2020. If there is no successful match, we encourage those members to re-apply the following year.

Who are the CFA Mentoring Programme working group?

The programme is delivered and supported by a team of CFA UK volunteers who provide their time and expertise generously. Yenni Leighton (working group lead), Elena Petrishyna CFA, Francisca van Dijken CFA and Jacopo Gadani CFA.
