The first edition of the CFA UK Mentoring Programme was established, launched and successfully completed in 2018.
The programme was open for applications in January 2018 and the participants in the programme were matched into a one to one mentoring partnership which ran from April to December 2018.
Mentors and mentees alike found the programme very beneficial and would highly recommend the programme to other CFA UK members. Mentees recognised that the programme had helped them to achieve progress towards their stated career goals.
John Horrell, a 2018 programme mentee, said “Throughout the year I accumulated many skills, improved my industry knowledge and met many people through greater involvement with CFA UK. I would strongly recommend CFA charterholders to apply” said John Horrell, CFA, a 2018 programme mentee.
Despite a relatively small time commitment of only a couple of hours a month, the participants were able to form great new relationships and networks and gain new insights into their careers.
“It has been really great to see the positive impact the programme has already had on our first intake of mentees and mentors.” said Chris Whitcombe, CFA, a member volunteer who leads the working group responsible for CFA UK Mentoring Programme.
“We think CFA UK is well placed to provide a mentoring programme for its members as an independent organisation with a deep network of experienced senior finance professionals. It has been really rewarding to have the chance to work with a group of professionals from across the investment industry who are enthusiastic about bringing about a CFA UK mentoring offering. The chance to develop a programme from scratch with other volunteers has been both challenging and rewarding.”
Congratulations and many thanks to the CFA UK Mentoring Programme Working Group:
Chris Whitcombe, CFA, Anna Salim, CFA, Brad Beardsell, CFA, and Laurence Beard, ASIP.
